Valentines Day Flowers

Valentines Day Flowers: Do you love your science teachers? Seventh grade science teachers are collecting roses and other valentines day flowers February 18-20th for REUSE, Reduce & Recycle. Seventh graders will be learning about plant and flower anatomy while picking petals off their valentines day florets. Our goal is to collect 30 Dozen flowers over the three days! So, if you or someone you love receives flowers this valentines day, consider inspiring the next generation of chargers by donating your bouquet (or just parts of it). Buckets for collection will be available outside the main office of the school. All donated flowers will be recycled as compost for improving the charger garden. Make your flowers continue to spread Valentine Joy. And have a Happy Valentines Day from your seventh grade science teachers.

PTO News

Think you know your teachers? Sure. But think you know them from a close up photo of their hair, eyes, ear, hand or nose? Stop by the table in the cafeteria during lunches on Wednesday, February 20th to make your guess from 15 photos of FJH teachers. Each student will be allowed to guess on two photos. One winner from the correct guesses for each teacher will be drawn for a prize to be collected during BEST that day.

got talent?

FJH has talent and it includes you! Do you sing, juggle, dance, mime, play an instrument, do comedy, etc? We want to see it! FJH needs you to try out for the talent show. Auditions are after school March 5-6. Talent show date is March 14th. See Mrs. Baney for questions.

Art contest with Cash Prizes

Do you communicate through what you draw, paint, sculpt or create via mixed media? If so, your artistic voice is needed! The Leslie Anne Hulse Foundation is offering cash prizes for original artworks at the 6th annual Hope for Human Trafficking event on March 1st. Entry forms available from Ms. Strawhacker or from Mrs. Baney. Leslie Anne Hulse was Fishers Police Officer who died of cancer ten years ago. As part of her legacy to the community of Fishers, she identified and helped rescue students who were being trafficked, lobbying for them to be seen as victims and not criminals. Her family honors her memory by encouraging students to identify their own voices and stand for justice.

Breakfast Procedures Reminder:

Students who choose to eat a school breakfast, listen up! All students are expected to arrive to class prior to the 7:35 tardy bell. In order to ensure punctuality we highly recommend the following breakfast pick-up strategy: 1- enter the building upon the 7:25 bus release, 2- report directly to the café to retrieve "grab-and-go" breakfast, 3- report to your locker, 4- report to class by the 7:35 bell. The ten minute passing period is ample time to complete this strategy on a daily basis.

Handbook Highlight:

All clothing which is considered to be inappropriately revealing is strictly prohibited. Shorts, skirts and dresses, including the peak of a slit on a slit skirt are expected to be of an appropriate length. A good guide to use is the length of the fingers as the arm hangs down at the side; often referred to as the “finger-tip” rule. Holes, tears, or rips in pants or shorts will also be held to the “finger-tip” rule standard. A hole or tear that has been patched is no longer revealing, and therefore is acceptable to wear.
