Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated throughout the United States, Latin America, and Canada and is punctuated by Columbus Day on October 12th. Christopher Columbus’ contributions in the discovery of America are a major aspect of the celebration that takes place during this month and, although a controversial figure, his impact and presence for the founding of the very first European settlement in North America provided the stepping stone for the achievements of so many others who came after him. To meet the growing educational needs of Hispanics in the United States, President George H.W. Bush instituted awards to agencies that support educational opportunities for Hispanics. The Bright Spot Award for Educational Excellence for Hispanics was started and is still provided today.

Sports/Club Sports

8th Grade Football

Last night your 8th grade Chargers took on the Noblesville West Millers and earned a victory 34-14. Your Chargers defense played a solid game shutting down the Millers biggest offensive weapon for most of the night. Carson Eloms scored three touchdowns, Terry Walker scored one touchdown with Ryan Thembulembu adding one as well. Next week we travel to Carmel to take on the Cougars.

Girls Volleyball

Lady Charger Volleyball faced off HIJH in an epic match, with both teams defeating the Panthers in 3. Your 7th grade Lady Chargers played hard and smart to claim their win. Biggest shoutout to Raygen Stewart who sported the Libero jersey for the first time this season, leading the time to a big win serving straight BOPs and playing strong defense taking the 3rd set to 16-14. Your 8th grade Lady Chargers came hungry for the win as they faced off against the very speedy and strong Panthers team. Your Lady Chargers played a fantastic match going to 3 sets with Ava Tester leading the offense with butter smooth sets and powerful serves. MVP goes to Olivia McNall for literally using her head for a big save to keep the rally going. Olivia played very strong defense helping the Chargers earn a very big and important win. What a beautiful night for volleyball. Proud of you all! Your Lady Chargers will play at Riverside on Tuesday the 21st.

Girls Golf

The Lady Charger golfers lost a close match to Riverside last night, but congratulations to Ellie Webster for medalist honors for Fishers. She dropped 5 more strokes off her personal best and recorded 3 pars on the night. Annabelle Kuwik also cut 4 strokes off her personal best.
